The four-seater chairlift takes only few minutes to climb up to Cristallo and Son Forca slopes, from Rio Gere. These slopes are very famous for being the “birth slopes” of the Alberto Tomba. A very modern snow making machine ensures the slopes’ snow cover from November to April. The ski slope at Rio Gere is used for national ski competitions as well as training grounds for the National Teams preparing for FIS World Cup Ski Circuit.
The Valgrande Chairlift takes the skiers up to Forcella Staunies and it has a lift station in the middle. Here, the pros can continue climbing to Staunies (3000 m) and then ski down the steepest slope in the Dolomites – Canalone Staunies.
Cristallo ski slopes can be reached from Rio Gere, just 7 km from Cortina d'Ampezzo town centre. At Rio Gere you can find plenty of parking space for your car. If you aren’t traveling by car, you need to know that Rio Gere is reachable by skibus as well. The Cristallo slopes are connected to Faloria ski area trough Rio Gere lifts.
Rio Gere slope (difficulty level: medium) can be reached by taking the A.A. Rio Gere – Son Forca chairlift.
Creste Bianche slope (difficulty level: medium), Son Forca slope (difficulty level: easy) and Padeon ski slope (difficulty level: medium) can all be reached by A.A. Padeon chairlift.
Son Forca – Staunies Chairlift transports skiers, snowboarders and tourist up to Staunies slopes (high difficulty) and Staunies.
Rifugio Restaurant Rio Gere (1698 m) is located near the start of Cristallo and Faloria skilifts. Here you’ll find a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere where you can have lunch or dinner, or maybe just a refreshment. Here you will find a ski and snowboard rental center.
Rifugio Son forca mountain hut (2235 m) is a family run business. Siorpaes family administrates the place, and this mountain hut has 27 beds. The terrace faces south and receives the sun light all day long. Son Forca Mountain Hut is also an ideal starting point for mountain excursions and mountain trekking.
There are plenty of off-piste and wild slopes for snowboarders at Faloria and Cristallo. For approaching these full adrenaline slopes, please consult a mountain guide in advance. Here there are slopes also for beginners and intermediate snowboarders and skiers.
